Münster: The first two licensing days of the Westphalian Main Licensing 2021 are over. The focus of these days was on the dressage stallions. 35 stallions from the overall high-quality licensing lot were approved, 14 were awarded a premium title.
As a prelude, the 53 promising licensing candidates presented themselves to the licensing commission and the expert audience on the triangular track. This was followed by the presentation of the stallions on the lunge. On the second day, the event started with free running. The presented stallions of the 2019 vintage convinced the five-member licensing commission with their consistently good quality during the various presentations: "There hasn't been a vintage with a quality density at the top like this one for a long time," summarised breeding director Thomas Münch.
The champion stallion with the head number 13 was the most pleasing of the high quality selection lot: This stallion is a son of Escolar NRW out of a dam by Apache. The dam of this stallion is none other than the State Premium mare Aweih - daughter of the successful mare Weihegold. He is bred and owned by Bettina Hinnemann from Voerde. In addition to numerous licensed stallions, the dam line also includes sport horses that have been successful in dressage up to advanced level. Particularly noteworthy is Weihegold, granddam of the Champion Stallion, who was successful in international dressage competitions under the saddle of Isabell Werth. Among other things, the pair became team Olympic champions in Rio de Janeiro. The winning stallion was convincing in all areas: Already on the first day of licensing at the triangle, he presented his three outstanding basic gaits. On the lunge the stallion always convinced with his looseness and best working attitude. "Impression, freedom of shoulder and type of the stallion leave nothing to be desired", was Thomas Münch's conclusion.

Münster: Following the award ceremony for the dressage stallions, the first part of the stallion sales 2021 was held in Westphalia. In an OnLive auction, the visitors celebrated the stallions in Münster- Handorf. 30 of the 32 offers found a new owner under the hammer of Thomas Münch. A son of Vitalis/Fidertanz was sold for the top price of 940,000 Euros. In total, 3.6 million Euros were turned over.
The stallion sales of the dressage stallions took place in the well-filled auction arena in Münster- Handorf this evening with great atmosphere. In the form of an OnLive auction, licensed, premium and non-licensed stallions were on offer. The award-winning final ring participants kicked-off the auction. The very first stallion in the auction lot caused quite a stir. In an exciting bidding duel that almost reached the million mark, the winning bid alternated between customers on site and online. The Vitalis/Fidertanz son with the head number 53 (breeder and exhibitor: ZG Werth, Moers), who had already impressed in his performances at the triangle and on the lunge, changed hands to Helgstrand Dressage ApS for an incredible price of 940,000 Euros. With a kncokdown price of 410,000 Euros, the final ring stallion with the head number 28 by Franklin/Rock Forever (breeder: Hendrik Schulte-Märter, Soest; exhibitor: Blue Moon Sporthorses, Kissenbrück) placed second in the price structure. All eight premium stallions on offer changed hands at six-figure prices. Together they achieved a turnover of 2.4 million Euros.
Two of the licensed non-premium stallions were worth 150,000 Euros to their new owners. One of them was the Quaside MD/Captain Fire son with the head number 43 (breeder: Sascha Hahn, Bramsche; exhibitor: BG IB Berger/Gestüt Allerhop, Sulzbach-Rosenberg). The interestingly coloured bucksin did not only catch the eye of the visitors with his unique colour. He also convinced the audience with his movement. As the second to last approved stallion for sale, the Vitalis/Florestan son (breeder: Jutta Kelle, Minden; exhibitor: IB Berger GmbH, Sulzbach-Rosenberg) with the head number 54 once again aroused high desires. This impressive bay was also sold at the knockdown price of 150,000 Euros. The sold licensed, non premium stallions turned over a total of 905,000 Euros. On average, the stallion owners invested 69,615 Euros.
The audience in the hall and in front of the screens had to wait until the end of the auction for the most expensive non-licensed stallion. Even though the hall was a little empty after almost four hours of the auction, the atmosphere was not dampened! The non-approved stallions were also celebrated by the expert Westphalian audience. Bred and exhibited by FUN Dressage GbR, Bad Homburg, the son of Sezuan/Belissimo M with the head number 48 came up trumps once again. After a lengthy bidding duel, the winning bid was 56,000 Euros in favour of customers in the hall.
All in all, the Westphalian Stallion sales for dressage stallions was a fantastic success. Auctioneer Thomas Münch successfully knocked down 30 of the 32 stallions on offer to new owners. The total turnover of all stallions sold amounted to 3.6 million Euros. An average of 157,714 Euros had to be invested in a licensed stallion. The nine non-licensed stallions cost an average of 33,611 Euros. Almost one third of the stallions were sold to customers who bid online. 13 of the stallions will be used abroad in the future. "We are pleased that our OnLive auction of dressage stallions was so well received. This stallion sales was a perfect start! We are looking forward to the next two licensing days and the stallion sales of the jumping stallions on Wednesday evening," sums up auctioneer Thomas Münch.

VIDEO - Outstanding Oldenburg Main Premium Winners
PART OF OLD PRESS RELEASE
At this year's Oldenburg Stallion Days, the newcomers Total McLaren and Conthalou impressed as Oldenburg Main Premium Winners. In addition to the sporting development of the stallion, the result of the stallion performance test and, above all, the quality of the first foal crop at the offspring inspection are taken into account when deciding on the Main Premium.
Total McLaren, born 2017, by Totilas out of Deja vu by De Niro - Sandro Hit, bred by Ralf Knauf, Haan, ownend by Helgstrand Dressage, Denmark, was crowned the celebrated Main Premium Winner at the Verband der Züchter des Oldenburger Pferdes (OL). The black beauty was premium stallion at his stallion licensing in 2020. He completed his 14-day test in Denmark with a final score of 7.85 and his 35-day test, also in Denmark, with an overall score of 8.07. In 2021, he was named bronze medalist of the four-year-old stallions at the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. The panel of judges around Gerd Sickinger raved: "A modern riding horse and a stallion with nobility, frame and uprightness". The licensed stallion achieved an overall score of 9.3. His brother Damon de Luxe OLD, born 2013, by Damon Hill is successful in advanced (S*) level dressage competitions with Kim Sarah Kleis in the saddle. Total McLaren produced the Elite foals Teseo by Total McLaren - De Niro and Tribeca NY by Total McLaren - For Romance I at the Fall Elite Auction, two highly sought-after candidates. The latter was knocked down to new customers from Costa Rica. Deja vu, dam of Total McLaren, participated at the Elite Mare Show in Rastede in 2012 and was victorious in tests for young riding horses. Total McLaren has an important granddam by Silberaster OLD. The Sandro Hit daughter was champion mare at the Elite Mare Show in Rastede in 2006 and won the gold medal at the Bundeschampionat of three-year-old riding horses in the same year and repeated her success at the same place as a four-year-old. In 2008 Silberaster OLD danced her way to bronze at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden.
Fynch Hatton OLD, born 2016, by Formel Eins out of Senorita Meyer by Sir Donnerhall I - Weltmeyer, bred by Bernhard Ilting-Reuke, Borken, owned by Helgstrand Dressage, Denmark, was ranked silver among the dressage stallions. The strong-moving stallion started his career in 2019 as the winner of the Oldenburg Saddle Licensing in Vechta and was the winner of the State Championships in Rastede at both three and four years old. In 2020, he completed his 35-day test in Denmark with an overall score of 8.49. Also in 2020, he triumphed as the winner at the Bundeschampionat for four-year-old stallions in Warendorf and in 2021 he finished second at the Danish Young Horse Championships with a final score of 9.24. The stallion came into stud use late after his saddle licensing in April 2019, which is why his first two foal crops count in the offspring evaluation. His charming son Feingold by Fynch Hatton - Fürst Romancier was the top priced stallion at the Fall Elite Auction. The stallion prospect was sold to regular customers from the USA. Fynch Hatton's dam, Senorita Meyer, also produced the licensed stallions First Choice by Fidertanz as well as Fürst Magic by Fürstenball OLD, victorious in Prix St. Georges under Dorothee Schneider.
Moreno OLD, born 2017, by Morricone I out of Simone by San Amour I - Diamond Hit, bred by Wilhelm Strohm, Nordhorn, ownend by Gerd Sosath, Lemwerder, was awarded bronze. In 2019, the shiny man was a premium stallion at the Oldenburg Stallion Days in Vechta. In 2020 he was silver medalist at the Oldenburg State Championships in Rastede and excelled in the finals of the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. He completed his 14-day test in Schlieckau with an overall score of 7.85. In 2021, Moreno OLD successfully passed the Sport Test Part I with a focus on dressage in Münster-Handorf with a final score of 7.95, with all gaits scoring over eight. Moreno OLD already shines with eight Oldenburg Elite foals. The dam line of the dark bay has produced a considerable number of Grand Prix winning horses. These include Di Lapponia by Donnerhall with Paulinda Friberg, Sweden, as well as Salieri by Sandro Hit under Victoria Max-Theurer, Austria. The two licensed stallions Dr. Doolittle by Donnerhall with Markus Gribbe and St. Emilion by Sandro Hit with Dorothee Schneider, who were internationally successful up to Grand Prix Freestyle, also come from this high-quality dam line.
"INCREDIBLE" 2021 OLD Champion
Oldenburg Champion Stallion 2021 by Indian Rock - For Romance I - K2/T. - Schwadroneur/T. (gr. Feldhaus)
Part of OLD press release
Celebrated Oldenburg Champion Stallions
The shining Oldenburg Champion Stallion of the Verband der Züchter des Oldenburger Pferdes (OL) was an offspring by Indian Rock - For Romance I - K2/T. - Schwadroneur/T., bred by Andrea Bechheim from Reichshof/North Rhine-Westphalia and exhibited by Helgstrand Dressage Aps (co-owner Stutteri EVO) from Denmark. Sire Indian Rock is successful in the big class under Dutch rider Emmelie Scholtens. Dam Herbstromanze was a participant at the Elite Mare Show in 2016 and is the sister of the World Championship finalist Sir Skyfall OLD by Sandro Hit, now successful in Prix St. Georges under Katrin Burger. The Grand Prix horses Saphira Royal/Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and Sergio Leone/Jan Ebeling, USA, are also from this line.
Oldenburg's Breeding Director Bernhard Thoben says about the champion stallion: "When we were just standing here together the phrase 'the king enters the track' came up. That is certainly a bit like that. A stallion endowed with great grandeur and an incredible amount of charisma, highly modern. Also endowed with great overview and much blood and with three evenly outstanding basic gaits. A stallion with rarely seen totality and a good alternative over the fine pedigree. A pedigree that was cultivated for a long time by Manfred Rüter from Dorsten, a long-time Oldenburg breeder. It is nice that this is the case and that such horses come along for us. A stallion where one looks forward to breeding and sport. We sincerely congratulate breeder Andrea Bechheim and exhibitor Helgstrand Dressage on this champion stallion at the Oldenburg Verband in 2021."
A stallion by Fürst Toto - Royal Classic - Fürst Piccolo - Wolkenstein II, bred and exhibited by Arndt Schwierking, Barver/Lower Saxony, was awarded silver in the premium lot of Oldenburg stallions with dressage emphasis. The strong moving stallion is the brother of the Grand Prix successful Sephora S by Sir Donnerhall II OLD and the Dutchman Patrick van der Meer as well as the premium stallion Bowmore by Bordeaux for the Wettlkam stud of the Müller family. A noble black stallion by Suarez - Dante Weltino - Rubinstein I - Traumdeuter/T., bred by Nina Sixtensson, Sweden, and exhibited by the owners Maurice & René Tebbel, Emsbüren, shone with bronze. Day 1 at OLD stallion licensing
The day started with presentation at the triangle followed by the very interesting lunging of the stallions.
It is very interesting to follow how each stallion has developed since the pre-selection and the video presentation. The lunging part gives a clear picture of the future as both a riding horse but definitely also a picture of what qualities your asking for as a breeding stallion.
WOW No 66 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
From the presentation video no 66 by Indian Rock / For Romance I stood out with outstanding qualities, and he did not disappoint for the two presentations today. He look like a super boy with a great temperament always waiting for his handler. For the lunging part he is a lovely uphill light-footed mover in the trot with very nice angles both from behind and light in the forehand, the canter is OUTSTANDING super well balanced uphill with lovely volume and rhythm, good over track and relaxation for the walk. Makes a super lovely natural frame with steady contact and closed mouth.

New elite setup for senior dressage and goodbye to Danish national team coach Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein
With less than three years to the Olympics in Paris, there is now an extra focus on optimizing the elite setup within senior dressage. This means that from end of 2021, Danish national federation will replace the current national coaching role with a team of recognized expert profiles within international top dressage. The team will be affiliated with the national team team on an activity basis, and will act as advisors and sparring partners for the riders and their daily coaches. At the same time, it unfortunately means a farewell as of today to current national coach Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein.
Source - Danish national federation.
Here you find the full article in Danish.
Expert team
There is still no set-up and no names for the new Danish expert team.
Will the experts be equal? Will the new elite manager (still not appointed) be the future selector? Will the experts be from abroad? Will the experts be some of the daily trainers of the riders? With ex experts from abroad will/can they fully support the Danish riders when looking deep into the fight for the medals or spots for the big championships?
A lot of questions currently without answers, but next summer we all cross our fingers for Danish medals at home soil in Herning.

VIDEOS - Nanna Merrald victorious with all her horses this weekend with +75%
Nanna Merrald - Photo: H2R/Christine Prip
Grand Prix horses
A lot of riders struggling to find the buttons and to build up the relationship with “new” horses produced by former riders.
Nanna Merrald just look as if she’s got that special magic feeling being able to take over the reins and within quite a short time the horses performs like it was her own produced horses - Nanna is a highly skilled rider bringing a very special empathy into her riding of each individual horse.
First she took over the ride of Blue Hors Zack former successful under Daniel Bachmann Andersen. With Zack she actually entered her first international show back in Februar 2021 with two victories at Le Mans.
Atterupgaards Orthilia she took over from Agnete Kirk Thinggaard and she was former fully educated by British Fiona Bigwood. With Orthilia she made her first appearance back in January 2021 and they recently raised the bars being second at World Cup qualifier in Lyon very close to the winner Isabell Werth (and from many sides Tille and Nanna were winners).
Two “new” horses
This weekend with yet another two “new” Grand Prix horses, 12 year old stallion Blue Hors Zatchmo and 13 year old Blue Hors Don Olymbrio.
Exactly two years ago Agnete Kirk Thinggaard made international debut together with Blue Hors Zatchmo and now this weekend Nanna showed him for the first time with an impressive performance rewarded with 76,733%.
And then entering the international scene with double +75% debut victories with Blue Hors Don Olymbrio former educated and successfully ridden by Daniel Bachmann Andersen and for a shorter period ridden by Agnete Kirk Thinggaard.
Nanna does what hardly no one is able to but everyone dreaming about when taking over the ride of a fully educated Grand Prix horse - to be able to continue a successful path and develop together with the horse into an even higher level.
Blue Hors Zatchmo national debut Grand Prix winner 76,733% - full test
Blue Hors Don Olymbrio international debut Grand Prix winner 75,217% - full test
Blue Hors Farrell national intermediaire I victory 76,798% - full test

Atterupgaards Delorean & Selina Vittinghus with a helpful Matthias Rath placed 3rd - photo: H2R
Super international debut qualities
Danish Warmblood top mare Atterupgaards Delorean (born 2013) by Bon Bravour / Sandro Hit and Selina Vittinghus did their first ever international small tour competitions this weekend.
Friday with 72,765% victory in the Prix St. Georg with very small margin to Danish Anders Hoeck with Blue Hors Zwobber 72,735% and with Germany´s Matthias Alexander Rath and Thiago GS placed 3rd with 72,529%.
During the price giving Rath was showing himself as a true gentleman leading Delorean as she was a bit over excited during the national anthem.
Enjoy their Prix St. Georg performance here below.
In the big tour Australian Lyndal Oatley and her beautiful Elvive by Tushinski / Blue Hors Don Schufro performed their debut Grand Prix freestyle with lots of qualities.
As Lyndal told they are still very green together at competitions and it´s still about timing for the warm up, getting into a new indoor arena and not least getting more experience together at international level, but she was of course very pleased about their freestyle debut which also was with a bit diffrent style of music which suited Elvive perfectly. They scored 76.855% follow by Danish Anna Kasprzak with Rock Star with 75,475% and Swedish Malin Wahlkamp-Nilsson with Amplemento with 72,555%
Watch their freestyle here below.
VIDEO - Olympic ladies dominate yesterday's national and international event at Blue Hors
Diaz by Zaber with Carina Cassøe Krüth - photo: H2R
Blue Hors again open the doors for a combined national and international event. The facilities, footings and arenas are just outstanding and everyone seems to feel comfortable visiting Blue Hors stud with a well organised event.
Danish Olympic riders Carina Cassøe Krüth and Nanna Merrald were in top of yesterday’s competitions at Dressage Festival at Blue Hors
At M-level Carina brought the 7 year old mare Diaz by Zaber by Sezuan/De Niro for the national event. A body wise powerful strong black mare showing the right attitude and not least 3 really good paces. She look like the next top Grand Prix mare for Carina.
They showed a well balanced expressive trot tour. Diaz moves of the ground always with natural forward search and a lovely steady contact with a closed satisfied light foaming mouth. Good walk tour with nice over track and clear rhythm. The canter is powerful and good but showing minor tensions which Carina manage without any technical problems. A clear winner with 75,132% - watch the test here below.
It was just the third event for the talented mare since she was successful at mare grading and elite mare show as 3 year old.
New Grand Prix partners for Nanna Merrald
Blue Hors rider Nanna Merrald already showed her top skills taking over fully educated top horses like Blue Hors Zack and Atterupgaards Orthilia and being able to develop a successful partnership.
Yesterday Nanna succeeded again with two “new” stallions the 12 year old Blue Hors Zatchmo by Blue Hors Zack / Donnerhall and the 13 year old Blue Hors Don Olymbrio by Jazz / Ferro.
Both stallions fits Nanna really well. She showed Zatchmo in the national Grand Prix tour with an effortless test. Overall you could wish for a more open frame and unfortunately Zatchmo still shows his tongue between the front teeth all the way (unfortunately also a “problem” under his former rider Agnete Kirk Thinggaard). Zatchmo is not a big mover but very correct and his great abilities for piaffe/passage and transitions makes him a very interesting future partner for Nanna.
The audience darling Blue Hors Don Olymbrio has been very successful together Daniel Bachmann Andersen finishing 12th at FEI World Ranking 1.11.2019 and only appeared one time under Agnete Kirk Thinggaard before an injury put him on hold.
Yesterday it was a fresh and sparkling Blue Hors Don Olymbrio and together with Nanna they made a very harmonious picture. 75,215% international score also shows that they already made their first steps hopefully into something even bigger for the future.
Right now Nanna is the one to make her own “Danish Team” with now 4 Grand Prix horses.

Blue Hors Dressurfestival med flot show program
