Piaf and passage as von Bredow-Werndl takes over where she left off….

To the strains of a brand new French-themed musical score embracing Edith Piaf’s “je ne regrette rien”, reigning Olympic, European and World Cup champions Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and the fabulous mare TSF Dalera BB claimed a definitive win at the second leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League in Lyon, France today.

On the crest of a wave of success, the 36-year-old German rider clinched the 2022 World Cup title at Leipzig (GER) in April before taking a break ahead of the birth of her baby daughter, Ella Marie, in August. And her comeback today was nothing short of sensational.

A score of 90.140 left her ahead of compatriot and five-time World Cup champion Isabell Werth who finished second with Emilio on a mark of 87.945 while Sweden’s Patrik Kittel lined up in third with Touchdown and von Bredow-Werndl’s brother, Benjamin Werndl, finished fourth with Famoso OLD.

Jessica was delighted with the result that stamped her authority back on the sport she has dominated for some time now. And she was relieved this evening too.

"Coming back with a new Freestyle after riding one 90% score after another I knew I was pushing myself. I really wanted to get above 90 to be honest, and that I managed to do it is really cool because it’s what I wished for and prepared for!"

Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (GER)

New lead

There were 13 starters in today’s points-deciding Freestyle and, first to go after the break, The Netherlands’ Thamar Zweistra looked set to forge a new lead with the high-stepping nine-year-old stallion Hexagon’s Ich Weiss who was really fun to watch.

But the pair performed a 2.5 canter pirouette to the left which brought her Degree of Difficulty and Choreography mark to a 5.5 because it is a breach of the rules. So it was the 77.255 posted by the host-nation partnership of Morgan Barbançon and Sir Donnerhall ll OLD that was holding the lead when von Bredow-Werndl entered the ring.

From the moment the German pair set off the crowd were spellbound however, and they burst into applause when the score was posted. The music was captivating, and the floorplan allowed Dalera to show off her pure class. Clearly the golden girl of German dressage had it in the bag.

Coincidence

Asked about her new French-themed Freestyle, von Bredow-Werndl insisted that “it is just a good coincidence that coming up is Paris 2024!

"My mom actually suggested to use this music. It feels like it fits perfectly to Dalera, right from the first time I rode it. And she loves it! It’s a love story between Dalera and me that’s made in France!"

Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (GER)

“The floorplan is perfect for her because we have developed together over the last four and a half years and we’ve been using the previous Freestyle all that time so I think it’s time now to adapt and move on. I spent a lot of time working on the new choreography and it is difficult, but not for Dalera. Today she made it feel effortless, easy and still expressive. I rode this version last week on Wednesday and I just I knew this was it!”, she pointed out.

As best French finisher, having lined up in sixth in the final analysis behind Sweden’s Nanna Merrald Rasmussen and Atterupgaards Orthilia in fifth, Morgan Barbançon attended the post-competition press conference. She was happy with the performance of her great stallion Sir Donnerhall who has bounced back from a scary accident some years ago and who drew gasps of delight from the crowd when setting off in extended canter at the very beginning of his test.

Happy

“I am happy to see that he is still in a very good shape at 16 years old. It makes me happy to see he still wants to go in the ring, and Lyon is really my heart show - the best public is here!” And asked if she might think of changing her own Freestyle ahead of the Olympic Games in two years time she said “yes, and I might make it more French than France!”

The FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League now moves on to von Bredow-Werndl’s home ground in Stuttgart (GER) in two weeks time where she will partner the 13-year-old Ferdinand BB. As defending champion she only needs two appearances during the season to qualify for the 2023 series Final which will take place in Omaha (USA) next April.

And well on his way to qualification is her brother, Benjamin, who goes into the next leg at the top of the WEL league table.

3 to 5 November with HANN stallion licensing and auction

Catalog no 61 by Vitalis / Spörcken

Schedule with full live stream at Clipmyhorse

H2R favourites from the video presentation:

Remember the stallion Bon Courage (for your 2023 list), he is by Bon Coeur / Vivaldi and seems to bring both movements and expression for his offspring. For this HANN collection a total of 6 sons has been selected.

The top boy by Bon Courage is no 1.

Not a fan of the breeding at all, but this stallion look very attractive from both movements and type.

World Champion Glamourdale is represented for the collection with one very nice son with lots of imprint from his successful sire.

Even though this boy is still very young in his body, he show a lot of suppleness. For sure one to keep an extra eye on for the licensing.

This Vitalis son brings a dream picture of functionality and suppleness.

Here you find the entire list of stallions for the HANN licensing.

Lyon CDI-W

Lovely to have Jessica and Dalera back - the way they present the dressage is just icing on the cake. Today with just a small blip before going into the one times, as Dalera obvious were at the end of the test with the trot transition at M.

Benjamin Werndl and Famoso OLD with another Team Aubenhausen smoothness performance.

Today´s 3rd placement for Patrik Kittel, unfortunately with some clear difficulties for the passage-piaffe-passage transitions, and for the moment the passage is still lacking some more clear push from the hindlegs as the picture is mostly passage with the frontlegs.

Danish Nanna and Tille did a great job today with lovely piaffe & passage tours and well balanced smooth transitiions and also without any technical issues.

Unfortunately Hermes was lame at the warm up and did you show.

Here you find the entire results.

Below you can watch the entire test.

Move the time line to:

1.51.35 - Atterupgaards Orthilia & Nanna Merrald Rasmussen

2.25.25 - TSF Dalera BB & Jessica von Bredow-Werndl

Cassøe Krüth leads Danish whitewash

Picking up where they left off when taking Team gold at the ECCO FEI World Championships this summer, Danish riders completely overwhelmed the opposition at the first leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League series on home ground in Vilhelmsborg, Aarhus (DEN) today.

Yesterday Carina Cassøe Krüth and the 11-year-old mare Heiline’s Danciera led the rout in the Short Grand Prix in which Denmark claimed all of the top four places. And today they did it again in a slightly different order in the Grand Prix Freestyle in which Cassøe Krüth remained at the head of affairs while her world championship team-mates Nanna Merrald Rasmussen and Daniel Bach Andersen finished second and third and her trainer, Andreas Helgstrand, finished fourth.

With her brand new Freestyle, Cassøe Krüth grabbed a big lead when posting a score of 85.925, all five judges - Mariette Sanders-Van Gansewinkel (NED), Hans-Christian Matthiesen (DEN), Susanne Baarup (DEN), Elke Ebert (GER) and Maria Colliander (FIN) - placing her first.

Flying form

However her compatriots were also in flying form and, with just three of the 15 starters left to go, Bachmann Andersen produced a lovely confidence-giving ride on the 12-year-old gelding Zippo M.I. to score 81.330 for temporary second place on their Freestyle debut.

Second-last into the ring, all eyes were on Helgstrand and the fabulous 8-year-old Jovian who has already been super-successful as an even younger horse. And the double Olympian, whose training and sales business is a driving force in equestrian sport, produced a lovely Freestyle at the stallion’s first attempt. Breathtaking extended trot earned 10s and 9s galore, and although the horse lost balance and broke in tempi changes and has clearly more to learn about piaffe, the quality of movement and scope for development suggests a really exciting future for the pair who are only on the very first steps of their journey together.

Putting 80.000 on the board they slotted into third only to be demoted to fourth by the final combination of Merrald Rasmussen and the 11-year-old stallion Blue Hors St Schufro. This pair who won the Freestyle in Falsterbo, Sweden this summer overtook Bachmann Andersen and Zippo for runner-up spot when putting a healthy 82.610 on the board. But no-one could overtake Cassøe Krüth and the horse she steered to that team gold and individual seventh place at the championships staged in Herning two months ago.

Party-style

Talking about her new fun-themed party-style Freestyle, Cassøe Krüth said, “I think I already had a bit of a party with the old one but I wanted to keep the same vibe but not the same music so we stepped it up!"

"I always think music is very personal and Freestyle is very personal, and I want to tell the audience a bit about myself and what I like and where I come from through my Freestyle and I think I grew up with this music. I was a teenager in the 90s and into every boy band and it was part of my life when I was a bit younger."

It was all new to her, and to Danciera. “I didn’t get to ride it before. I heard it a bunch of times so I knew where I had to be for every note but I thought when I rode it today it took me through it. There was so much beat and rhythm and it tells me what to do”, she said.

She’s as excited as everyone else about what's happening in Danish dressage right now.

“The sport is at a very high level and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop! It seems we are all going to continue producing horses and Cathrine (Laudrup-Dufour) also has new ones on the way, so as long as we have really good partnerships with our horse owners so we have good horses and we keep on educating them then I think it’s looking very positive for Danish Dressage sport!”, she pointed out.

The second round of the 11-leg FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League will be held in Lyon, France next weekend.

Don’t miss a hoofbeat…..

4 x Denmark in front of tonights CDI-W short Grand Prix at Vilhelmsborg, Denmark

Sport at top level with team gold medal combination in front tonight

Heline´s Danciera and Carina Cassøe Krüth with their best ever Grand Prix performance (from H2R point of view).

Super form, motivated, smooth, powerful and supple - the victory was clear for the Danish team gold combination. Passage, frame, extensions and walk was just in a league of their own today, and judges still just with a single 9 for extended walk! The first piaffe becomes a bit unbalanced where the final piaffe at the centerline is shown with high quaility.

The winner followed by three “new” combinations. Nanna Merrald with Blue Hors St. Schufro, Andreas Helgstrand with Jovian and Daniel Bachmann Andersen with Zippo M.I.. As St. Georg magazine just wrote in their update about tonight´s top performances “It is not for nothing that the Danes became world champions in the dressage arena in Herning this year. In today's Grand Prix for tomorrow's World Cup freestyle we saw three team world champions in the first four places, of which only one had saddled her World Championship horse.”

Nanna and St. Schufro really suits each other - great harmony, power and lightness in one package. Jovian and Andreas also seems to be a perfect match, from the side line they could be a challenge to judge, but huge cadeau for today´s judging team 4 x 74,079% that´s pretty much spot on. Daniel and Zippo with super harmony and top timing all the way they just seem to be building up a partnership with qualities for the top of the sport.

Friday at Vilhelmsborg with CDIU25, CDIJ and CDI3 small and big tour

Price giving at CDI3 Prix St. Georg

Dressage people are meeting up again in Denmark, but this time it´s at Vilhelmsborg in a smaller and much more local atmosphere, but still of course with the international mood.

CDIU25

In the morning the new international Lövsta Future Challenge U25 took place and here Danish Karoline Rohmann with Jakas Don Luvre won with 72,000%. Karoline and Don Louvre recently were one of the combinations at Nathalie Masterclass at Broholm castle. And as Karoline said “I really loved being part of this Masterclass, and today Nathalie again was ready to help me at the warm up. I’m so pleased about her help and advices, as she just gives me and Don Louvre some new and successful tools”, tells a very happy Karoline.

CDI-J

Next up was CDIJ freestyle won by Swedens Laura Laustsen with Fairy Tale follow by Denmarks Annabelle Rehn with Nikitaro, and with Germany´s Rose Oatley and Rock Revolution in third position. The overall impression from this junior freestyle was very solid performances. The Danish junior combinations showed well balanced performances with good qualities.

CDI3 Prix St. Georg

International small tour victory for Danish Nanna Merrald with Blue Hors Touch of Olympic. Well balanced trot tour, super walk tour, good active collected walk with good pirouettes and super extended walk, bit tense for half passes with flying change between, good half pirouettes, nice 4 times but with an error for the 3 times.

Helen Langehanenberg showed the light footed black mare Zaeta de Malleret by Zonik / Sir Donnerhall I.

International debut for Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour with the 7 year old Swedish bred Vividus QRE by Zaladin MI / Don Charly, co-owned between Cathrine and Family Zinglersen. Type wise very much like Bohemian, lovely expression in a light frame and contact. Vividus shows three really good basic paces with really nice freedom and qualities, for the canter tour he still shows some insecure and bit tense moments.

Also new at international level was 7 year old gelding Grand Galiano by Grand Galaxy Win / Blue Hors Don Schufro ridden by Rikke Dupont, and bred by Lotte and Gert Buchave and co-owned by the rider. They were also qualified for last weeks Danish national young horse championships but made instead their international debut with a top placement. Super nice overall presentation without any technical issues and all the way in a very nice frame, from the side line they could easily have been among the top 3.

Placed combinations:

CDI3 Grand Prix

Andreas Helgstrand and Queenparks Wendy showed a solid test without any technical issues, like also Dorothee Schneider with Sisters Act MT OLD, placed 3rd was the fairly young Danish Grand Prix combination 9 year old Danish Warmblood gelding Favour Gersdorf by Foundation / Leandro with Nadja Sloth in the saddle. A long time partnership and now together all the way into international Grand Prix level, where they have showed a nice development especially for the piaffe tours with much more security, sit and balance.

Olympic reserve combination Charlotte Heering and Bufranco were back in the arena showing a good test and placed 4th. Last placed was Marianne Helgstrand with Super Mario showing an error free test.

Carina Cassøe Krüth sluttede FEI Dressage World CupTM finalen i Leipzig på 4. plads:

Danish national Young Horse Championships finals

Sunday was the big finale day at the national Danish Young Horse Championships at Blue Hors.

Blue Hors is for sure THE place for the finals. Even though it says autumn time outside, the huge indoor arena still offers the light and atmosphere all the way into the dressage arena.

For the dressage fans this year will be the last where we have to get up in the middle of the night to follow the finals, as from next year til jumping finals will take place at Stutteri Ask, and hopefully this will give the dressage people more “daily hours” for both training and competition during the finals.

4 year old podium - photo: H2R

Sport with top horses and great performances

4 year old final

Well deserved winner Danish Warmblood gold medal mare Valerie B by Revolution/Zack, bred by Peer Guldbrandsen and owned by Helgstrand Dressage. Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen showed the long legged well moving mare. Valerie is a very complete horse with 3 super gaits showing lot of power, but on and off still a bit too strong contact.

Placed 2nd Be Sure by Benicio/Scuderia, bred in Germany and owned by Helgstrand Dressage and ridden by Mette Sejbjerg Jensen. The high frequented stallion, shows expressive trot but for some moments on left rein the tongue became visual at the right side (unfortunately not commented by the judges), a good walk and also a good canter, which becomes, for some moments, a bit like a rocking chair with not that supple round front legs.

Bronze position for the long legged mare Quinn G / Fassbinder, bred and owned by Stutteri G, ridden by Anders Hoeck. A lovely elegant long legged mare with a nice natural frame, three really good basic gait but most of the time presented in a bit too high tempo.

Other opinions

Lille Kærgårds Sisco DWB by Blue Hors Don Olymbrio / Stedinger, bred by Louise Lundgård Nissen and owned by Claus Bertelsen ridden by Silje Bakken was one of the 4 year old horses being presented and also able to show a well balanced natural, light footed and easy presentation for all three gaits. This kind of presentation and balance should be rewarded at a much higher level for both ride ability and potential.

Among the other placed combinations the two mares Fabulosa by For Romance I / Depardieu, bred in Germany, owned by EVO / Helgstrand and ridden by Anne-Marie Hosbond and Remember Me DWB by Blue Horse Don Olymbrio / Sezuan, bred by Lena & Rasmus Dalsgaard, owner Bregnerødgaard were presented in a light and easy way, both missing the final sparkling power for the final.

5 year old

World Champion Danish Warmbood mare Lyngbjerg´s St. Paris by Blue Hors St. Schufro / Blue Hors Rockefeller, bred by Bente Børjesson and owned by Vallentin Dressage & Four Oaks presented by Victoria Vallentin. This mare just makes the perfect picture of lightness, ease and a happy athlete.

Placed 2nd Sir Floresco by Sir Heinrich / Floresco, bred in Germany, owned by Helgstrand and ridden by Moises Azuar. For the preliminary round Moises was not really able to show Sir Floresco in a correct frame as he was a bit on/off the forward search, this issue was solved for the small final where he well deserved won, and again for the final with a nice frame. It´s definitely not the most easy horse to place in the front, as he is also very supple and looks eager to do his job in the arena. For the final they were struggling a bit with the counter canter as more of the other combinations also did.

No 3 was Feine Bella NRW by Fürstenball / Bordeaux, bred in Germany, owned by Helgstrand and ridden by Eric Guardia Martinez. A lovely presentation, even though Eric was also struggling with the counter canter for the final.

Top busy and very successful EVO rider Anne-Marie Hosbond managed an impressive record for the 5 year old final with three horses top placed, Danesa Nord by Hesselhøj Donkey Boy / Belissimo M, bred by Vibeke Bjørn Rasmussen, owned by EVO. Together with Danesa Anne-Marie was named reserved combination earlier this year for WCYH in Ermelo. Placed 6 with Roxette by Revolution/Quite Easy, bred by Steffen Sunesen and owned by Future Dressage. Anne-Marie took over the reins before the championships as Future Dressage rider Josefine Hoffmann already was very busy, and this fairly new partnership has already become a successful partnership. A super nice match. Finally Anne-Marie was also placed 9 with the beautiful well moving mare St. Tropez by Santo Domingo / Rock Forever I, bred in Germany, owned by Stutteri EVO.

Mares for the future

Among the 5 year old horses Lyngbjerg´s St. Paris shows herself again and again as a horse for the future big sport. Also mares like Roxette, St Tropez and Søbakkehus Duffy by Sezuan / UNO Don Diego, bred Dorte and Hans Jørgen Hoeck and owned by the rider Michael Søgaard, all shows qualities for big sport.

6 year old

Anna Kasprzak successful in both 6 year old and 7 year old winning both finals.

With Danciero by Dancier / Floriscount she made an impressive entry going directly to the finals with a big win from the qualification this summer, big win again for the preliminary round and then also well deserved crowned new 6 year old Champion. Danciero really fits Anna, and with the best possible basic young horse education by German Eva Möller there has not been any obstacles. The only tiny detail has been a proper transformation from breeding stallion to now a top sport horse as a gelding. No doubt Danciero has the potential, and he also look like a horse with the right attitude for the sport. From the sideline both Anna´s horses were presented with a bit to high neck position.

Placed at silver position Carina Cassøe Krüth with Movie Star by Morricone / Blue Hors Bentley, bred in Germany, owned by Siri Evjemo Nysveen. The black stallion is a good mover in all three gaits and Carina does present him for the final with good energy and flow, even though you get the feeling from the side line that she has to ask him quite clearly to do the job. Sometimes the picture from the sideline says one thing, but as Carina tells he is actually a lovely forward going horse and very easy to educate, even though he is quite “noisy” during the test.

Bronze position for Susanne Barnow with Åtoftens Dancing Memory by ERA Dancing Hit / Benetton Dream, bred by Stutteri Åtoften and owned in partnership between the rider and the breeder. Well ridden and well educated long legged gelding. From following this combination the big gelding has made some huge steps from 5 year old into this 6 year old level, and it really look like that Susanne Barnow takes her time to let her horses develop bodywise, also when you sometimes think “this could be more spectacular”, they just develop very nicely over time.

Breeder and co-owner Annette Bugge capturing Susanne Barnow with Åtoftens Dancing Memory - photo: H2R

The solid good education

When it comes to both 6 year old and also 7 year old it´´s more and more about the good education of the young horses.

Majken Faaborg Glerup with Midt-West Franceska by Franklin / Blue Hors Don Schufro, bred by Stutteri Midt-West and owned by the rider were the only amateur combination being able to fight in top of the field with two very nice performances where the timing was one of the key words. Showing the star pace trot with huge surplus, good walk and well performed canter tour with accurate flying changes.

Again Susanne Barnow shows her WCYH partner Skovdals Dexter by Hesselhøj Donkey Boy / Blue Hors Romanov, bred by Bjarne Skovdal, and owned by the rider. This horse just brings the x-factor when entering the arena. Super well moving in all three gaits with lots of expression, unfortunately for the final the surroundings became somewhat to exciting with a lot of tensions for the canter tour.

7 year old

Super close race between Everian L by Everdale / Hochadel bred by Karsten Bundgaard and owned by Future Dressage and Highfive Fuglsang by Grand Galaxy Win / De Niro, bred by Anne Dorte Riis Mayland and owned by family Darhlseng.

Super well educated both horses and both are able to perform with a lot of expression and no technical issues.

At bronze position is Suarez by Sezuan / Desperados, bred in Germany and owned by the rider Signe Kirk Kristiansen and Thomas Kirk Kristiansen. They really make a harmonious picture showing some nice performances with great accuracy in a good balance - a happy combination.

Placed 4th - again Anne-Marie Hosbond makes it to the top of the field as no 4 with her EVO Schubidoo by Blue Hors St. Schufro / Hotline. A horse that also develop with big steps over the season and now looks really comfortable at the finals.

Here you find all detailed results from the championships.

World champions out in force at Aarhus opener

All four members of the history-making Danish side that won team gold at the ECCO FEI World Championships 2022 in Herning, Denmark this summer will line out next weekend when the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League gets underway, again on their home ground but this time in Aarhus, Vilhelmsborg (DEN).

Nanna Merrald Rasmussen, Carina Cassøe Krüth, Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour arrived as favourites to take the team title in August, but were pushed every inch of the way by the powerful British and German sides that had to settle for silver and bronze. It was an enormous achievement for the Danes who only once before took a world championship podium placing when clinching bronze in Lausanne (SUI) in 1982. And Laudrup-Dufour’s silver-medal-winning double in the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle this summer was the icing on the cake.

With the new World Ranking system now in place for both Jumping and Dressage, Laudrup-Dufour is lying second on the current Dressage Athlete ranking list while Cassøe Krüth is in fifth and Merrald Rasmussen and Bachmann Andersen hold tenth and eleventh places respectively. Next weekend Cassøe Krüth will partner her Herning ride Heiline’s Danciera who lies fifth on the latest Dressage Horse ranking list.

Eight nations

Athletes from eight nations - Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden - will compete in the Short Grand Prix on Saturday 22 October from which the top 15 will qualify for Sunday’s points-deciding Freestyle.

The Danes may be a tough bunch to beat however because Laudrup-Dufour will partner her Tokyo 2020 Olympic ride Bohemian, the 12-year-old gelding with which she claimed Team and Grand Prix Special bronze and Freestyle silver at the FEI Dressage European Championships 2021 in Hagen (GER) last September.

And adding more fuel to the Danish fire will be double-Olympian Andreas Helgstrand with the exciting 8-year-old stallion Jovian who won the 7-year-old title at the World Breeding Championships last year before posting a double of CDI3* wins in Aalborg (DEN) in May, another double at CDI3* Hagen (GER) in June and fifth and fourth places in the Grand Prix and Special at the CDI4* in Aachen (GER) later that month.

This pair are definitely ones to look out for when the action kicks off, and with Anna Kasprzak and Lone Bang Zindorff also in the mix, the Danish contingent are a real force to be reckoned with this weekend.

German duo

However they may not have it all their own way because Germany will be represented by Helen Langehanenberg and Dorothee Schneider who have a world of experience and success behind them, and two great horses.

Langehanenberg was on the silver-medal-winning German team and finished individually fourth at the London 2012 Olympic Games with the stallion Damon Hill who she then went on steer to victory at the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final a year later. She brings the 14-year-old mare Annabelle, who finished sixth in both the Short Grand Prix and Freestyle at the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2022 Final in Leipzig (GER) in April, to Aarhus this week while Schneider, a double-Olympic team champion, will partner the 14-year-old gelding Faustus who, like Annabelle, competed on the gold-medal-winning German team at last year’s FEI Dressage European Championship and who has been a prolific winner this season at CDI3* and CDI4* level.

Marc Peter Spahn (Jeroen Poll) will fly the Belgian flag while Emma Kanerva (Greek Air) will compete for Finland, Yessin Rahmouni (All at Once) will represent Morocco, Denise Nekeman (Boston STH) and Emmelie Scholtens (Desperado NOP) will line out for The Netherlands while Norway’s Mathilde Merethe (Sandbaeks Rio El) and Sweden’s Johanna Due Boje (Mazy Klovenhoj) and Jacob Noeerby Soerensen (Sheern) complete the startlist.

First stop

Aarhus is the first stop in the 12-leg FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League that continues at Lyon (FRA) the following weekend before moving on to Stuttgart (GER) and Madrid (ESP) in November and then Salzburg (AUT), London (GBR) and Mechelen (BEL) in December.

The action will resume at Basel, St Jakobshalle (SUI) and Amsterdam (NED) in January 2023, and following legs in Neumünster (GER) and Gothenburg (SWE) in February the twelfth and final qualifier will take place in ’s-Hertogenbosch (NED) in March.

The top 9 finishers in the League will qualify for the 2023 Final along with the defending champion, Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, who is automatically qualified provided she competes twice during the season.

The Final returns to Omaha (USA) from 4 to 8 April, where her compatriot and five-time champion - the legendary Isabell Werth - reigned supreme on the only other occasion it was staged there in 2017.

The story of the 2022/2023 season will begin to unfold when the action gets underway on Saturday with the Short Grand Prix which starts at 19.00 local time followed by Sunday’s Grand Prix Freestyle which will kick off at 13.30. It’s going to be another super season, so don’t miss a hoofbeat…..

The 5 year old black stallion already moved to his future rider Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour.

Iron by Asgard’s Ibiza / Hohenstein is bred by Nedergaard Dressage and sold as a 3 year old (during the licensing) to Helgstrand Dressage & Stutteri EVO.

The lacquer black stallion already stole the heart of Cathrine, and of course also his new owner and long time client of Laudrup-Dufour Annabelle Pidgley.

As Cathrine describes Iron: “He is a top quality youngster and he gives an incredible feeling. He is hot but still very manageable, and for now we will keep him as a stallion,” says Cathrine.
