17.500 top price filly by Fair Deal / Fürst Jazz sold to Denmark

Press release

Münster: The Westphalian Studbook offered 31 foals for sale at an online auction this evening. A daughter of First Deal advanced to the top price. The filly was worth 17,500 euros to her new owners from Denmark. In the end, a son of St. Emilion cost 17,000 euro.

The foal season at the Westphalian Studbook is coming to an end. In the penultimate online auction of the season, 31 representatives of the 2024 vintage were up for sale again this evening.

Head number 8, Flotte Deern by Fair Deal (breeder: Sabine Mauderer, Lippetal), was the most sought-after offer. She found her new owners in Denmark at the hammer price of 17,500 euros after a long bidding duel between Germany, Finland and Denmark. Her dam, Fajola by Fürst Jazz, is the half-sister to Django Unchained, who was sold for 155,000 euros at the Westphalian Autumn Auction in 2019. The Celle state stud stallion Viscerado, who is successful in international 1.45 m jumping competitions with Marco Kutscher, also descents from this dam line. The dam of this foal will also be up for sale at the Westphalian Studbook's youngster and broodmare auction in October.

Another filly was also highly favoured by the international clientele with the first lot of the evening. The liver chestnut mare named Bonjour II (breeder and exhibitor: Bernhard Illting-Reuke, Borken) is a full sister to Bonjour, who was sold for 61,500 euro at a Westphalian online auction in 2022. The dam line is also well known. The granddam of this auction foal is none other than the St.Pr.St. Senorita Meyer, who produced three other licensed stallions in addition to the Bundeschampion Fynch Hatton. The daughter of Bonds/Franziskus transferred to Dutch ownership this evening at the hammer price of 16,500 euros.

The most popular colt of the evening with head number 29 was the son of St. Emilion Sweet Spot (breeder and exhibitor: ZG Benning, Dülmen). His dam Verb.Pr. Vivetta B by Vivaldi is a half-sister to the successful advanced level dressage horse First Romance. The black colt found his new owners in the Netherlands at the hammer price of 17,000 Euros. A son of Follow Him's Schönweide/Valdiviani (breeder and exhibitor: Lars Rethemeier, Lienen) also cracked the 10,000 euro mark. The strong-moving chestnut colt found his new home with his sire's stallion owners for 10,500 euro.

With the foals sold this evening, the Westphalian Studbook generated a total turnover of 115,000 euros. On average, their new Westphalian hopeful was worth 8,846 euros to international customers.

‘Although foal sales don't get any easier towards the end of the year, this auction shows once again that customers are still prepared to pay good money for special foals,’ summarised auction and sales manager Thomas Münch.

Anyone still looking for a promising representative of the 2024 vintage will have two more opportunities to bid for a foal at the Westphalian Studbook this year. The lot for the last online auction of the year can already be viewed online at onlineauction.westfalenpferde.de. The online auction runs from September 12 to 16. OnLive, the last auction foals of the year will be for sale in Münster-Handorf on September 28.

German & Dutch breeding excellence showcased in Ermelo (NED)

After four days of competition, it was a chestnut clean sweep and a showcase of the quality of Dutch and German breeding specifically at this year’s Longines FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses 2024 in Ermelo (NED).

Among the top 15 horses—five in each age category—six were German-bred and five were Dutch-bred.
The 5 -,6-, and 7-year-old winners were all chestnuts too; a distinct change from the dark bay Dressage horses the world has become accustomed to. For those who follow this event every year, there were plenty of familiar faces Dressage enthusiasts will recognise, including a two-time world champion in Life Time FRH.

5-Year-Olds

The 5-year-old test is always the most hotly-contested category and due to the focus on potential - rather than schooling - technicalities, it tends to attract stud farms wanting to show off their top progeny. Of the 46 five-year-olds in this year's field, 22 were stallions, 9 mares, and 15 geldings.

The KWPN stallion Red Viper (Romanov x Sir Sinclair) led from start to finish, with a win and 92% in the preliminary test and a convincing win in the finals yesterday. Ridden by the Dutch jockey Bart Veeze and bred by Coen Kerbert, he scored 93.800% for the win – the only score above 90 in the class – thanks to impressive marks of 9.4 for trot, 8.8 for walk, a competition high 9.7 for canter, 9.2 for submission and 9.8 for perspective. The horse was almost faultless, with the judging panel saying the trot displayed exceptional elasticity and shoulder freedom, the canter as balanced, powerful, and uphill.

The second placed combination - Westfalen stallion Glamdale WP NRW (Glamourdale x Millennium) with Germany’s Stefanie Ahlert - were over 3% behind on 90.2%. Jeanna Hogberg piloted the Swedish stallion Severucci HT (Secret x Rubinrot) to third on 90.000%.

6-Year-Olds

Danish Warmblood mare Valerie B, ridden by Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen, topped the 6-year-old first qualifier, scoring an outstanding 90.800%. In 2023, Valerie B won the Preliminary rest for 5-year-olds, but was beaten out in the finals by Quinn G and Carl Hedin’s Instagram sensation, stallion Skyline to B.

Merita Hagren and Alkaline (Secret x Zalmiak Firfod) were one of the surprises during the final round, clocking up a huge 92% with 9s and 9.5s across the board to finish with a second place. Despite only placing in 6th during the preliminary test, the chestnut stallion was described as "lovely, springy, and elastic” by judge Peter Storr. Talking about the canter, he said “it has a lot of airtime, and it’s truly elastic and energetic. We did have an argument about where to go with the marks and decided on a 9.5.”

The pressure was on for the remaining few combinations, as Alkaline was followed immediately into the ring by winners of the preliminary test, Valerie B and Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen. Unable to replicate their preliminary performance, the pair finished fourth in the final with 87.2%. Despite scoring a perfect 10 for her trot, mistakes in the flying changes and canter cost her valuable points. Having placed second in the first round, the chances of a podium finish looked excellent for Segantini 6 with Olympian Dorothee Schneider aboard, but some small mistakes put them out of the placings too.

The penultimate combination of the day was Quinn G, winner of last year’s 5-year-old final. Having claimed a tied 4th pace in the preliminary final, Fiona Bigwood rode a foot perfect test aboard the DWB mare by Quaterhit/Fassbinder. The mare was destined to be a two-time champion, scoring an incredible 95, including a perfect 10 for both the walk and the trot with very little for the judges to offer other than praise for an “overall, lovely horse.”  The KWPN mare Nice Touch W (Dettori/Florencio) took third place, ridden by Charlotta Rogerson.

7-Year-Olds

It’s always wonderful to watch the progression from 5-year-old classes to 7-year-olds in terms of schooling, balance and collection. 44 combinations took to the arena on the first day.

Charlott-Maria Schürmann of Germany dominated both the preliminary and final tests with her Hanoverian stallion, Life Time FRH. Bred by Johannes Hesselink, Life Time FRH (by Livaldon x Fürstenball OLD) earned a score of 81.175% in the preliminary round. In the final, they went even further, chalking up an impressive 84.129%, with standout scores including a 9.5 for walk, 9.5 for submission, and a 9.5 for perspective. The judging panel said “we think you had a nice feeling on your horse today. We had that feeling too” and immediately praised the stallion’s “beautiful frame and correct education.”

Second was Leonie Richter of Germany, riding the Hanoverian stallion Vitalos FRH (by Vitalis x De Niro), the silver medallist of the six-year-old horses in 2023 and the five-year-old horses in 2022. Vitalis FRH had placed fifth in the preliminary round but moved up to secure second place in the final with a score of 83.222%.

Vitalos FRH, bred by Josef Bramlage, received a perfect 10 for trot in the final. Hans Peter Minderhoud of the Netherlands retained his third-place position from the preliminary round in the final, scoring 80.993% with the KWPN stallion Glock's Massimo (by Glock's Toto JR. x Bretton Woods).

Happy athlete Quinn G. dominates world championship six-year-olds

Press release

08-09-2024 by Ermelo YH

Quinn G. (Quaterhit x Fassbinder) extended her hegemony today at the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo. The DWB mare and her rider and owner Fiona Bigwood put a dazzling score of 95.0% on the scoreboard. It left her 3% clear of Alkaline (Secret x Zalmiak Firfod) and Merita Hagren. The bronze medal was claimed by Nice Touch W (Dettori x Florencio) and Charlotta Rogerson thanks to a score of 88.6%.

When Quinn and Fiona stepped foot on their last centerline, the audience erupted in applause, making the chestnut mare trot even more enthusiastically. “It looks like you were enjoying her just as much as we did”, said commentating judge Peter Storr. “What a wonderful attitude this mare has, it looked like she had so much fun, so happy and relaxed.” The jury gave a glowing review of the 2023 world champion of five-year-old horses bred by Stutteri G – Helene Geervliet and co-owned by Mette and Fiona Bigwood. “We have no remarks on her trot, so she receives a 10.” Quinn’s walk was also unparalleled in the eyes of the jury, making another 10 pop up on the screen. “This is clearly a happy athlete, well done to the both of you.”

Personality

Rider and owner Fiona Bigwood is over the moon with her double world champion. “I feel so lucky to have Quinn, she is so good my only task is to pilot her around the test. Her focus on me is incredible. I have never done anything like this and I have learned a lot the last few days, because this is quite different from Grand Prix.” Fiona purchased the mare in the autumn of 2023 and last spring she was campaigned at the shows by Carl Hester. “Her character is her best quality. She adores people and is so eager to please. Chestnut mare may have a reputation, but she is simply amazing and has the best personality.” The combination placed just outside the top three in the qualification, but now soared the rankings to the top position. “It is a completely different way of riding compared to a ‘regular’ dressage test, but we gave it our all and it all worked out.”

Powerful canter

The silver medal was awarded to another chestnut Danish combination, though this time it was a stallion. Alkaline, bred by Annette Blangsted and owned by Helgstrand Dressage, received a scoresheet full of 9s and even a 9.5 for canter and perspective. He significantly improved his result compared to Thursday when the pair received 86.4% and placed sixth. “We were enchanted by this horse’s energy, especially in the canter. It had a powerful thrust off the ground, a scopey jump and already showed super and big changes for a 6-year-old horse”, said chairman of the jury Knut Danzberg. His rider Merita Hagen also lauds the DWB-bred stallion. “He is so sweet, he is unbelievable. We performed a good test today and I felt very comfortable. He is a quick learner, and he is always there with me. I was not nervous and did not feel any pressure, since I felt like the underdog.”

First medal for Switzerland

Nice Touch W and Charlotta Rogerson are living proof that you can go far when you get back up after a fall. Right before the test, the Swiss rider fell of her KWPN mare, but it did not stop her from securing the very first WC-medal for her home country. ‘Nice Touch is a very special mare; she has a lot of quality and is very intelligent. She is also a happy horse that likes to joke around. She gave a cheerful buck during the warming-up and she is not very big so there is very little to hold on to”, quips the Swiss rider. “I put a lot of pressure on myself since I was so eager to show everyone how good she is. I just have to channel her energy and quality, and she will do anything for me.” The black mare, bred by H.A. van der Werff and owned by James Rogerson, had already proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the qualification in which she also placed third. “A beautiful, elegant mare with exceptional qualities that made us very happy”, enthused Peter Storr. “She was presented in a lovely manner and this performance makes us believe she has great potential.”

Life Time FRH emerges victorious in world championship for seven-year-old dressage horses

Press release

08-09-2024 by Ermelo YH

The Hanoverian bred Life Time FRH (Livaldon x Fürstenball OLD) and his rider Charlott-Marie Schürmann are the new world champions of the seven-year-old dressage horses at the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo. Vitalos FRH (Vitalis x De Niro) and Leonie Richter secured their third consecutive silver medal. Glock’s Massimo (Glock’s Toto Jr. x Bretton Woods) and Hans Peter Minderhoud grabbed bronze.

“I can imagine you had a great feeling in the saddle today, we also had a great feeling watching you two”, said commentating judge Ulrike Nivelle right after the test of the Hanoverian world champion. Five 9+ marks resulted in an overall score of 84.13%. The German combination received a 9.5 for walk, submission and perspective. “Life Time FRH is very focused on his rider, they had a soft contact and performed the test harmoniously. It is an appealing horse with a beautiful frame and a correct education.”

Showman

“He was amazing, it was an incredible feeling, and he tried his heart out. He is very consistent in the test, I can always rely on him”, beams Charlott-Marie with pride after her lap of honour. “He is a true showman in the arena, but overall very relaxed. He is unreal.” It was the third time in Ermelo and the first medal for the German combination. “He has developed so much strength and has grown more confident, he now wants to show off his capabilities.” His breeder Johan Hesselink also had faith in Lifetime: “I secretly expected he would win a medal after his victory in the qualification. We watched that one via the livestream. To be here today and see him win gold, is very special. We still have his dam, whom we bought as a foal at an auction, and also some offspring out of this lineage. So who knows what de future may bring.”

Perfect trot

The silver medalist of the six-year-old horses in 2023 and the five-year-old horses in 2022, Vitalis FRH, once again descended on Ermelo this year to claim top honours. Receiving a 10 for his trot and a 9.5 for the canter and perspective, the German duo provided some fierce competition for the world champion. “We adore his trot, ample bend in the hindleg, a nice rhythm, beautiful frame and so much fluidity and balance. When it all exudes harmony, you deserve a 10”, stated Ulrike Nivelle. “Vitalos can easily collect on his hind leg and was presented in a lovely frame. He is a very expressive and light-footed horse.” The final score was 83.22%. “He was so much better than Friday, I am super happy”, says Leone Richter. The Hanoverian stallion is berd by Josef Bramlage and owned by Hengsthaltung Helgstrand/Schockemöhle.

Good ears

The Dutch Glock’s Massimo and Hans Peter Minderhoud stormed up the ranking compared to their achievement last year when the combination placed fifteenth in the final for six-year-old horses. The duo showcased their growth through a 9.3 for perspective, 9.2 for walk and overall score of 80.99%. “Well done today, Massimo is a very elegant and light-footed horse, expressive and brimming with potential”, commenced Ulrike Nivelle her commentary. Hans Peter knows the full potential of the KWPN-bred stallion of Glock HPC NL B.V., bred by M. van Cortenberghe. “Massimo is an incredibly sweet and good horse, but quite sensitive to sounds. The prize giving ceremony on Friday was a bit much for him, so it was more difficult for me to get him relaxed in the arena today. Nevertheless, I was very pleased with our test because we made no mistakes. I am very happy with our bronze medal, as Massimo always does his best for me.”

That being said, it is our very first international Grand Prix show so that’s more than ok. Luxuriouzz is a very special horse, he gives me goosebumps.

Canter

The four-year-old horses may not compete in the world championship like their older colleagues, but they all moved through the main arena like true pros. After a sunny conclusion Red Viper (Romanov x Sir Sinclair) was pronounced world champion of the five-year-old horses at the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo. Piloted by Bart Veeze, the KWPN stallion put a brilliant score of 93.8% on the scoreboard. The hotly contested silver medal was secured by Glamdale WP Nrw (Glamourdale x Millennium) and Stephanie Ahlert. Severucci HT (Secret x Rubinrot) and Jeanna Högberg took bronze.

In a repeat of last year’s final, the crowd erupted in a thunderous round of applause when Red Viper and Bart went down the last central line. When the definitive scores were in and the speaker announced the championship title was won by the Dutch combination, Bart’s emotions ran high, making him tear up right in the saddle. “I feel a bit overwhelmed”, Bart admits after the prizegiving ceremony. “I feel like I aged ten years this last week because of all the impressions and the stress. Red Viper felt incredible today, and I thought we were riding a very good test. When the audience started cheering us on so early, my feelings were confirmed. I deliberately did not keep track of the scores of the other combinations. So it wasn’t until the official announcement that I knew we had won.”

Harmony
The jury was full of praise about the Pavo Cup 2024 winner. “We think Red Viper is such a talented horse and he performed such a harmonious test today. There is no doubt his future in dressage is very bright”, says commentating judge Patricia Wolters. The chestnut stallion, bred by C. Kerbert and owned by Reesink Horses, received an impressive score of 93.8%, including a 9.7 for his canter and 9.8 for perspective. “The stallion has such an expressive canter with ample balance and uphill tendency, but at the same time a great ability to collect.” His rider Bart Veeze had all the faith in his stallion, but felt some pressure after winning the qualification on Wednesday. “I think Red Viper is a very good horse and it was my goal to show everyone how amazing he is.”

Taking after his dam
The breeders of Red Viper, mister and miss Kerbert, say they have had a fantastic day. “It was super. It is a beautiful event to visit, and this makes it even more special. Zolena, the dam of Red Viper, has participated twice in the WC for young dressage horses with our daughter. This medal brings us to a full circle. You cannot predict such a result, it is an intricate confluence of many factors, from horse to management, education and rider. Today, it all came together, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.” Dam Zolena competed in the 2009 and 2010 WC for young dressage horses in Verden with Annemein Kerbert and qualified for the final at both five and six years of age.

Debut
The numbers two and three of the qualification switched places in the final standings. The Westphalian stallion Glamdale WP Nrw (Glamourdale x Millennium), bred by Zg Pleines and owned by Heike Pleines, and his rider Stephanie Ahlert improved their scores of last Wednesday up to 90.2%. Receiving three 9.0s and a 9.2 for perspective and trot, it was a striking debut for the German combination. “It is our first time in Ermelo, and it is all quite overwhelming”, says Stefanie. “Glamdale felt amazing on Wednesday and performed such a good test, but tonight he gave a little bit extra in front of the vibrant crowd.”

Four nines
For the Swedish Jeanna Högberg it was the second time to finish in the top three today. Earlier today she won the small final for the seven-year-old gorses, but the bronze medal with Severucci HT, thanks to a score of preciselt 90.00%, feels like a reward. “I don’t want to think about what the other riders are doing, just simply focus on Severucci and ride our best test. He felt great on Wednesday and was amazing today, too. The only thing working against us, was this one here”, the rider points laughingly to the Dutchman besides her. The SWB stallion, bred and owned by Absolut Dental Ab, is a son of the mare Riviera (Rubinrot x Larino). This mare also produced Fiorucci HT (by Florencio I), with whom Jeanna won silver at the 2016 WC for young dressage horses for 7-year-old horses. “It’s not often a mare produced two offspring that both won a medal.” Fiorucci is now active in the Grand Prix and with four 9s on his scoresheet, the future of younger brother Severucci seems very bright, too.”

Press RELEASE

06-09-2024 by Ermelo YH

Naqueen (Trafalgar x Samba Hit) and Kim Noordijk won the small final for six-year-old dressage horses at the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo with a score of 85.8%. The second place was claimed by San to Alati FRH (Secret x Bellisimo) and Stefanie Viehoff-Wolff) with 84.7%. Straight Horse Floriana (Franklin x Blue Hors Zack) and Mette Sejbjerg Jensen obtained 82.8% to place third.

The black Trafalgar offspring, bred and owned by J.G.M. van der Meijden, recovered himself after some errors and tension in yesterday’s test. The KWPN-bred stallion received an 8.8 for his trot, canter and perspective as a dressage horse. It resulted in a score that was no less than 9.6% higher than the day before. “It all came together today! Naqueen was very focused, and I am so proud of him. I know he has so much quality and I hope he can stay as relaxed as he was today’, says a happy Kim Noordijk after her lap of honour. “Hopefully I can ride the same way on Sunday. I am already thrilled to reach the final. That was our goal coming here and we have achieved it.”

Revenge

The Hanoverian-bred San to Alati FRH, last year the winner of the small final for five-year-old horses, also gave a better performance than a day earlier. Especially the walk of the chestnut stallion bred by Lena-Marie & Kerstin Klose and owned by Bernadette Brune, was rewarded with a 9.3 today, compared to an 8.5 on Thursday. The Danish warmblood mare Straight Horse Floriana, bred and owned by Straight Horse Aps, scored 4.8% more than yesterday. Partly thanks to her trot and perspective that were both awarded an 8.5. The Danish Straight Horse Aps are having a successful WC this year. Three horses bred by the stud in Lillerød were selected for Ermelo and all three qualified for the final for five-, six- and seven-year-old horses.

Life Time FRH and Global Power neck-to-neck to final seven-year-olds

Press release

06-09-2024 by Ermelo YH

By only 0.07%, Life Time FRH (Livaldon x Fürstenball OLD) and Charlott-Maria Schürmann demoted Global Power OLD (Grey Flanell x Don Frederic) and Evelyn Eger into second place in the Anemone Horsetrucks qualification for seven-year-old horses at the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. The German riders topped the rankings with 81,175% and 81,099%, respectively, though Dutchman Hans Peter Minderhoud and Glock’s Massimo (Glock’s Toto Jr. x Bretton Woods) followed in hot pursuit on place three with 80,68%.

“We have seen some great combinations and some fantastic horses. We have absolutely enjoyed ourselves today”, enthuses chairman of the jury Maarten van der Heijden. “The horses that came out on top, were often the ones that performed the test with great harmony and a soft contact. If they did not, we marked down the submission. The ones that were not in the top of the rankings, often showed some difficulties with the walk.” The fact that the scores in the top three are so close, excites the members of the jury: “The final promises to be full of thrills and spills. The top seven is incredibly well-matched, a small error or a moment of tension may just turn the entire ranking upside down. Anything can happen in the final. We are looking forward to it.”

So close

After the eighth place in the qualification for six-year-olds last edition, Charlott-Maria is more than satisfied with their win a year later. “Today was incredible, he felt so focused today. It is our third time in Ermelo, and we have gradually climbed upwards.” The Hanoverian stallion, bred by Johannes Hesselink and owned by Domus Equus Niedner, showcased his talent with three 9.0s. However, Global Power OLD, bred by Gestüt Lewitz, is breathing down his neck with a 9.5 for trot and 10 for canter. The walk of the black stallion of Christianne Bergmann and Hof Kasselmann was awarded a 7.0. The KWPN bred Glock’s Massimo had been in the lead for the better part of the day, but eventually saw his German colleagues surpass him. The bay stallion, owned by Glock HPC NL BV and bred by M. van Cortenberghe, was received 9s for his trot and perspective. Charlott-Maria and Life Time FRH are ready to rumble: “We have never achieved such a high score, but the victory tastes sweet so we are going to give it our all on Sunday.”

Valerie B wins qualification and is ready for revenge in championship for six-year-old horses

PRESS RELEASE

Scoring over 90%, Valerie B (Revolution x Blue Hors Zack) and Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen won the eHorses qualification for six-year-old horses at the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo. The Danish warmblood mare received 90,8% from the jury, creating a 1,5% gap towards the runner-up, Segatini 6 (Secret x Fidermark) and Dorothee Schneider. The third position was secured by Nice Touch W (Dettori x Florencio) and Charlotta Rogerson with 88,2%.

Anne-Mette is still overwhelmed when she comes out of the ring after the prize giving ceremony. “I cannot believe it, did this really happen? Every ride on this horse gives me an incredible feeling, but it’s no secret we had our work cut out this year with the flying changes. Valerie is such a big mover, but we gave her time, and she was on fire today.” Last year, the Danish rider and the by Karin and peer Guldbrandsen bred mare also won the qualification to then finish in an ex aequo fourth position in the final. What are the expectations this year? “Valerie is amazing, in my view she has no weaknesses. However, I am realistic, the six-year-old class is at an entirely different level. So, my goal is to have fun and do our best. I have ridden her since she was three years old, she has a heart of gold. Valerie always gives her everything and I really hope we do not finish fourth again on Sunday.”

Tension

According tot he jury, anything can happen on the road to the championship this Sunday. “We saw some very high quality today, we had many lovely horses with a lot of energy, but some horses had difficulties with the impressive atmosphere”, says chairman of the jury Knut Danzberg. “The small final will therefore include some very good horses, that due the tension today, could not achieve their optimal score. The championship is therefore wide open, everyone starts with a clean slate.” Despite the new chances in the final, Segatini 6 already showed to be a horse with a very cooperative character and a great deal of talent. The Hanoverian stallion bred by Maik Kanitzky and owned by Dr. Christine Feichtinger, received a 9.4 for submission and 9.2 for perspective. The number three, Nice Touch W, was awarded two 9s. The black KWPN mare of James Rogerson, bred by H.A. van der Werff, obtained a 9.0 for her canter and a 9.2 for perspective.

Poetic Motion wins small final Sport Pro Horses Prize for four-year-olds

PRESS RELEASE

A 0.4% difference put Poetic Motion (Jameson RS2 x Sandreo) and Christine Falander Wold in first place in the small final of the Sport Pro Horses Prize for four-year-olds on the second day of the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. Globall (Global Player OLD x Fürstenball OLD) and Leonie Richter placed second with the podium being completed by Powerdale (Glamourdale x Kennedy) and Benedek Pachl.

The Norwegian rider Christine Falander Wold is very happy with her KWPN stallion she bought as a foal. “Poetic Motion works so hard for me. He is stallion, but he is always easy to handle and so relaxed. He trusts me completely since I bought him as a foal, and we have been together every step of the way. I had been looking for a horse for a couple of years, but nothing ever caught my eye. Until I saw Poetic Motion on Facebook; it was love at first sight.” In the lap of honour, Poetic Motion once more showed why he received an 8,5 for his canter. During the event he is supported by his breeder J.G. Keijnemans-Bos, who acts as the groom for the occasion. “This is a breeder’s dream come true.”

Right behind Poetic Motion we find the Oldenburg stallion Globall, bred by Arnold Wegbünder and owned by Helgstrand Dressage. The four-year-old stallion is presented by the German rider Leonie Richter who previously piloted his sire Global Player to a silver medal in the championship final for seven-year-old horses in 2023. Globall received an 8,5 for his powerful trot, the total score being 80.2%. The black KWPN stallion Powerdale, bred by Harrie Melis, ridden by his owner Benedek Pachl placed third with 77.8%.

There´s no Quinn G in the 5 yr old field this year

Red Viper & Bart Veeze - winner of 5 yr old qualifier - photo: Timo Martis

Soft, supple and obedient with three top gaits

From following yesterday´s 5 yr old qualifier the absolute top star was missing. Said that it was a field with overall very nice qualities and well presented, but no really 5 year old WOW performances.

Red Viper was favourite even before entering the arena and with Bart Veeze he also took the victory. Well moving beautiful stallion, but overall from H2R point view the lightness in the contact and natural forward go was missing for this top placement yesterday.

Both 2nd placed Severucci HT with Jeanna Hogberg and 3rd placed Glamdale Wp Nrw with Stefanie Ahlert were showing soft, supple and obedient performances with three top gaits.

Today with small final where H2R bet for three horses in the final is: Lygum´s Zelina, Kjeldgaardens Django and Oz.

Combinations like On Fire with Beatrice Bucher and Orado with Alice Trajan were unfortunately not marked among the more “famous” riders yesterday. Overall the walk scores became somewhat heated yesterday but On Fire definitely showed a walk for more than 8,5!

H2R will keep an eye on the entire 6 yr old qualifier and will do a few running comments at Facebook.

Desperado happily to victory in CDI3* Grand Prix presented by Helgstrand Dressage

PRESS RELEASE

It was a ‘home win’ for Emmelie Scholtens and her stallion Desperado (Vivaldi x Havidoff) in the CDI3* Grand Prix presented by Helgstrand Dressage at the WC for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo. 71,80% meant they narrowly pipped Germany’s Dorothee Schneider and her Vivaldi offspring Vainqueur that received 71,63% for their test.

The sixteen-year-old Desperado, by now declared Preferent by the KWPN, is bred by the family Andeweg and owned by the breeders and Ad Valk Dressage Horses. It was the first time Desperado stepped foot into the ring after his comeback this spring and the stallion showed to be fit and happy. Number two Vaingqeur (Vivaldi x Rubioso), bred by Marten Hillman and owned by Eva-Maria Mann and Gabriele Kippert), performed his only third test at CDI3* level and obtained his best international score so far. The third place was claimed by Gerdine Marree and Holiday (Dream Boy x Michelango) bred by Roskam and owned by Fleur and Claire Marree and Wouter Plaizier. This combination also scored a personal best with 71,60%.

Proud and happy
Emmelie Scholtens beamed with pride in her lap of honour aboard Desperado: “Desperado was so excited he could come to a competition again and he is super fit and happy right now. That’s the most important to me. Together, we have achieved so many wonderful results already that I now just want to have fun with him. And we had a great time today!” Despite the long-standing partnership with her horse, the Olympic rider remains ambitious once she enters the arena. “I am always eager, and I don’t go to a show when it’s not good enough. I am satisfied with our test and the fact Desperado was moving through the ring with his ears pointed forward, means even more to me than the win.” Emmelie Scholtens and Desperado return to action on Friday in the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle presented by Helgstrand Dressage.

Compelling win for Red Viper in qualification for five-year-olds

PRESS RELEASE

A score of 92% secured Red Viper (Romanov x Sir Sinclair) and Dutch rider a compelling win in the Provincie Gelderland qualification for five-year-old horses on the first day of the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. A powerful trot propelled Severucci HT (Secret x Rubinrot) and Jeanna Hogberg into second place, followed by a stallion with the best walk of the podium: Glamdale Wp Nrw (Glamourdale x Millenium) ridden by Stephanie Ahlert.

“A fantastic horse with great gaits”, praises chairman of the jury Ulrike Nivelle the five-year-old Red Viper. “There was no discussion for us as the jury that he should at the top. “The five-year-old stallion bred by C. Kerbert and owned by Reesink Stallions B.V., received two 9,5s. Besides the trot, the 2024 Pavo Cup winner was also given this mark for perspective. “We had a big group today with some very good horses and we were remarkably unanimous as judges. I am very pleased.”

Honest
Bart had a busy day today in Ermelo with horses in multiple classes, which left him unsure until the last moment whether he had won. “I am super happy! I only rode the three WC-selections and the Pavo Cup, but because of that I already knew quite well what to expect from him.” The experienced rider is very pleased with the KWPN stallion. “He is obviously a beautiful horse with three solid gaits, but for me the most striking thing is his honest character. He was quite excited today, but he gave it his all and that gives me a great feeling.”

Perspective
The Swedish stallion Severucci HT, bred and owned by Absolut Dental Ab, obtained a total score of 8,98 points, partly thanks to his 9,3 for perspective as a dressage horse. The Westphalian Wappen winner of 2022, Glamdale Wp Nrw, bred by Zg Pleines and owned by Heike Pleines, also showcased a powerful walk that was rewarded with a 9,3. The overall score of the Glamourdale son was also 8,98 points, ex aequo with Severucci, where the SWB stallion scored higher for submission and perspective.
